Signpost Philippines to Conduct an Advocacy Poster-Making Contest

Signpost Philippines Inc. (formerly Signpost International, Inc.) is an independent NGO that works hand in hand with the people and empowers them to take an active role in the transformation and development of their respective communities. To help create an awareness regarding various social concerns, we will have an on-the-spot advocacy poster making contest on August 19, 2014 at the Activity Center of SM City, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. There will be three different categories namely Elementary, High School and Open Categories. The selected entries will be used as advocacy posters that will be utilized as information and education materials in the community. 

On-the-Spot Advocacy Poster Making Contest Mechanics

ELIGIBILITY

1. The contest is open to duly-registered elementary and high school students in Iloilo City.

2. Registration of contestants will be on or before 12 noon of August 18, 2014 and may be done by sending the list of students and their endorsement from the school through email  to signpost.philippines@gmail.com cc: diutay.mmpj@gmail.com, fax to (033) 336-0344 or their representative can go to the Signpost Philippines, Inc. Office  in the Holy Family Subdivision, Zone 8, Calumpang, Iloilo City. A link to the online registration form will then be sent via email or FB to fill out. 

The registration fee of One Hundred (P100.00) Pesos per participant may be deposited to the BDO La Paz Branch account: Signpost Philippines Inc. #007478001779 then a copy of the deposit slip sent thru email, faxed or presented personally at the Signpost Office at least a day before the contest. Deposits can be made in any BDO branch. Receipts will be issued and given on the contest day during the confirmation of attendance. The registration fee will cover the lunch for the registered contestant, Certificate of Participation and Certificate of Appearance. 3. Each school can send a maximum of five contestants. 
4. All contestants should confirm their attendance by registering at the venue at a set time during the contest date. Those who will not be ale to comply with this will be deemed disqualified.

MECHANICS:

1. Contestants should provide their own materials.
2. Contestants may use any medium but will be limited to the use of one whole cartolina for their entry.
3. Contestants may use words in their advocacy posters.
4. The contestants will be given a maximum of three (3) hours to finish the poster.
5. All entries will be properly labelled. A labeling stub will be provided for each entry after the drawing of lots.
6. The contest for the school category will be on August 19, 2014 at the Activity Center of SM City-Iloilo.


Program of Activities
10:00 – 11:00              Confirmation of Attendance
10:30 – 11:00              Opening Program and Orientation
11:00 – 11:30              Drawing of Numbers/Lunch
11:30 – 2:30                Contest Proper
2:30 –  3:00                 Judging
3:00 – 3:30                  Announcement of Winners

7. Drawing of lots or numbers will be done right after the orientation.
8. The advocacy posters will focus on the following:
         High School Category - Water and Sanitation
         Elementary Category - Environmental Education and Protection
9. All entries will become the property of Signpost Philippines, Inc. and may be used as advocacy materials by the organization after the contest.
10. Certificates of Participation will be given to each of the contestants and the school represented.
11. Prizes will be given to the Top 3 contestants for each category while a Certificate of Recognition will be awarded to the Top Ten contestants per category as well.

1st Place                - Php 1,000.00 cash plus Certificate of Recognition
2nd Place               - Php 750.00 cash plus Certificate of Recognition
3rd Place               - Php 500.00 cash plus Certificate of Recognition

JUDGING:
1. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges chosen by Signpost Philippines, Inc., the organizer of the contest.
2. Criteria for Judging:

Artistry and Creativity                                 30 %
Relevance to the Theme/Concept                 40 %
Originality                                                 10 %
Visual Impact                                            20 %
Total                                                        100%

3. Judging will be done immediately after the end of the period given to the contestants to work on their advocacy posters.
4. The decision of the judges shall be deemed final and irrevocable.
5. Announcement of Winners will be done on the contest date.
